Napa Taekwondo Academy's Summer Camps
3 days of activities, games, karate classes, and fun. Rather than trying to work your Summer weekend plans around Camps, and then to Taekwondo several times per week, your kids can be dropped off at the studio at 8:30 am, picked up at 2:30 pm. Kids will receive 6 martial arts classes per Camp towards advancement (which can also be an easy way to make up for any classes missed), as well as a certificate and an Achievement star for their uniform. The cost is $110 ($100 if paid in full two weeks before starting Camp date), which includes all fees and activities, is open to kids age 6 to 11 years old, and is limited to 10 participants for each three-day long session. You can sign-up at the Information table, while a deposit of $25 will reserve your spot.
NOTE: Non-students must attend a Basic introductory class in order to participate in the Summer camp. The fee is $25.00 for the app. hour-long class, and includes the necessary uniform for the Camp. This semi-private class is scheduled by appointment only: 226-5869.
Camp #1: July 8th - 10th. (full)
Camp #2: July 15th - 17th. (full)
In our Summer camps, we will be focusing on better development of Taekwondo and life skills. And of course, we will be having a lot of fun with many games and activities that develop better coordination, fitness, and sportsmanship. We want to have a good mix of structured games along with some focused activities and more in-depth martial arts training, including some practical safety awareness training to keep children safe.
Students will need to bring with them a bag lunch, drink, a snack if desired (snacks will also be available for purchase), along with shoes and socks. A standard Camp day will begin with drop-off from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Students should arrive in uniform, and bring the other items listed above. We will begin with review and our focus for the day, along with a fun activity, followed by a Martial arts class. Our daily Pre-camp talk includes the importance of good nutrition and having a good breakfast. Another activity will follow, with lunch from 11:30 to 12 noon. We will end with additional martial arts instruction, games and/or activities and clean-up. Pick-up will be from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm. A late pick-up fee of $3.50 will be charged for every 15 minutes late after pick-up time (unless arrangements have been made previously).
Tuesday
First day of Camp. A short orientation is included. Pick-up is from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm at the Studio.
Wednesday
Students will need to bring with them what sparring protective gear they may have. Pick-up is from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm at the Studio.
Thursday
Students will not need to bring a lunch with them on Thursday, as we will be having a Pizza party. This will be primarily a self-defense, safety awareness and fun day. We will end with Certificate presentations and Awards. Pick-up is from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm at the Studio.
It is our hope that students will bring home with them a greater sense of pride in themselves, a feeling of empowerment, sportsmanship and empathy toward others, and an awareness of keeping themselves safe from strangers and unhealthy situations. As well as gaining a more meaningful understanding of the martial arts, we also hope that students will be able to try some new things, build new friendships, and develop a stronger bond with those whom they may already know.
